The Meta Quest 2 is immensely popular and could become the hardware that finally pushes VR mainstream. Now, you might be wondering if you’ll be able to charge your headset quickly.
With upgraded specs and immersive experiences, you’ll want the battery to last so you can keep playing, right?
Quest 2 quick charging would help, so it’s easy to think that would be an option with the Meta Quest 2 headset, right?
Well, we have some bad news.
Short answer: No
Meta says the Quest 2 takes 2.5 hours to charge fully, probably because it doesn’t have a huge battery. Quest 2 charger wattage runs at 5V, 2A, which works out to 10W max power charging.

A helpful Redditor on the r/OculusQuest subreddit did some testing and found the max power the Quest 2 draws is 9W.
KnowTechie also confirmed this in our testing. But, sadly, that’s far from a quick charge.
With Meta seemingly capping the power input, there’s no point utilizing a higher-wattage charger.
In fact, using an aftermarket Quest 2 adapter or charger might even damage your device, which is what Meta refers to in its support pages.
So there you have it, the Meta Quest 2 does not offer any kind of fast or quick charging. Maybe we’ll see that in the Meta Quest Pro?
